Diglipur, Nov. 10: The ICAR-KVK N&M Andaman (CIARI) organized a five-days skill development training program on “Importance of Water Quality Management in Aquaculture: Best management Practices and Strategies for Sustainable Fish Farming” from November 4 - 8, 2024, at community hall of Radhanagar Gram Panchayat, Diglipur in collaboration with Fisheries Substation, Diglipur of Department of Fisheries, A & N Administration. This initiative was designed to inspire and empower rural farming communities in the district to engage in freshwater fish farming, enhancing their understanding of water quality management practices for sustainable aquaculture and broadening economic opportunities.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 10: The National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), under the Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman conducted an Awareness Campaign on ill effects of drug and substance abuse at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bathubasti yesterday. About 126 students, along with the Principal and Teachers attended the programme.    

Diglipur, Nov. 10: The Zonal Fisheries Office, North & Middle Andaman has initiated the special outreach camp to disseminate information regarding benefits of various Schemes being implemented by the Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration. In this endeavor, Special Camp was organized at FLC, Nimbutala under Rangat Sub-division on Nov.6, 2024. A large number of fishermen particularly from nearby fishing village attended the camp. The fishermen were enlightened on benefits of Schemes like availing KCC Loan, to apply facilities under PMMSY. The fishermen were also apprised on various aspects of sustainable fishing, mesh size regulation, impact of ghost net on marine mammals. The Assistant Director of Fisheries requested the fishermen and community leaders to maximize their requirement by availing benefits of various schemes.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 10: Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is organizing a compulsory Training Course on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Island Ecosystem for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officers during 11th – 15th November 2024. The training is sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
