Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: Today, Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Chairperson of the Social Justice Committee, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, accompanied by Shri A. Ummer, Zilla Parishad Member Wimberlygunj, Shri Laxmi Narayan, Samity Member, and Smti Rasheeda, Pradhan Hope Town, met with Shri B. C. Sarkar, Deputy Director (Shipping).

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: The A&N Traffic Police will be launching a special drive to enforce the mandatory helmet rule under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. As per the Act, wearing helmets is mandatory for children above the age of 4 years while travelling on two-wheelers. This drive aims to ensure road safety and reduce traffic violations related to helmet use.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: Hindi Pakhwada fortnight was organized at ZSI, ANRC during 14th September to 30th September, 2024 to honour and recognise the significance of the Hindi language. As a part of Hindi Pakhwada, various competitions viz. Essay writing, Poem reciting, English-Hindi word meaning competition were conducted to promote awareness towards implementation of Hindi in day-to-day official work.  All the staff member of ZSI both Hindi and Non-Hindi have participated in all the events with zeal and enthusiasm.

Mayabunder, Sept. 30: On 29/09/2024, a dedicated team from PS Mayabunder, led by Insp. S. Kannan, SHO, PS Mayabunder conducted an excise checking operation in the Mayabunder area. The team consisting of Insp. Gracefield, PCs S. N. Pathak, S. Shiva Kumar, and Felicitus. During the operation, the team received credible information about a person named Muniyasamy who had illegally stored a large quantity of liquor.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: Together with the rest of the country, the 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation will be celebrated on 2nd October, 2024 in A&N Islands too. The main function will be held at Gandhi Park at 8.15 am, during which, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency will pay floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. This will be followed by prayers 'Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Je'/ Ramdhuns by Teachers/Students of Education Department.
