Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 6: The District Industries Centre and Khadi and Village Industries Board are the implementing agency of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) throughout the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The prospective entrepreneurs and the beneficiaries whose loan have already been sanctioned by the Banks can undergo EDP training. The duration of the training would be for at least 5 days for projects with project cost up to Rs.5 lakh and for project with cost above Rs.5 lakh, the duration of EDP would be at least 10 days. No EDP training will be mandatory for projects up to Rs. 2 Lakh.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 6: The Department of Posts is implementing Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana (ASSY) for all the Shramiks of the country. This Yojana covers insurance of accidental claims under a very low yearly premium of Rs.289/- and Rs.499/- for sum assured of Rs.5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 6: The State Institute of Education, Shiksha Sadan conducted a meeting of the Core Committee Members of the SCL (State Centre for Literacy) under ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, in the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram recently. The objective of the meeting focused on better implementation of the ULLAS initiatives for Adult Literacy of the Ministry of Education- GOI, and to make these Islands 100% literate by 2027.
