Port Blair, July 25: Ms Monika Kumari Xalxo an unemployed youth of Calicut village of South Andaman District after completion of her education was struggling to get a job.

When she heard about the Self Help Group being formed under the DAY-NRLM scheme of the Government of India and was impressed by various activities & training programs for the strengthening of DAY-NRLM SHG members, she joined Pragya SHG of her locality, under Sunrise Village Organization.

Port Blair, July 25: Sahitya Akademi has a plan to publish an Anthology of Post-Independence Bengali Poetry: 1950-2010. Accordingly, an editorial Board has been constituted which includes Sri Anadiranjan Biswas, a well-known Bengali Writer of these Islands as well as the  Editor of Baakprotima (a Bengali periodical) and News Spotlight (a Bilingual fortnightly newspaper) alongwith Sri Binayak Bandyopadhyay (Associate Editor), Professor Manabi Bandyopadhyay (Associate Editor) and Sri Harsha Datta (Advisor) with Dr. Subodh Sarkar as its Chief Editor.

IPA Calls Upon Chief Secretary for Early Settlement

Port Blair, July 23: The Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) has called upon the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration for an early completion of recruitment process for the vacant posts of Pharmacists under the Administration. In a letter marked to the Chief Secretary, Abhay Kumar, National President, IPA said there has been no recruitment for the post of Pharmacist since 2010 under health department. In the year 2018, vacancy for 28 posts of Pharmacist under DHS was called for, but even after the lapse of three years the recruitment procedure remains incomplete. Many posts like Chief Pharmacist, Drugs Inspector and B.Pharm tutor are also not filled and are been looked after.
