Port Blair, June 25: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Port Blair has activated the Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Welfare Course (PGDAW) for July 2021 academic session onwards. The one year PG Diploma programme covers welfare science, ethics, laws and standards of all managed animals cattle and buffaloes; sheep and goats; pigs; poultry, working, performing, pet zoo and animals.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as 'World Drug Day', is observed every year on June 26 to make people aware about drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. This observance stimulates a sense of responsibility among the people, especially among youngsters and teenagers, to stay away from the drug menace.
I am glad that A & N Administration is carrying out various preventive and curative activities to tackle the menace of drug-abuse based on the UT Policy and Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction.

Port Blair, June 23: The Government of India has issued various guidelines on effective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has also envisaged and promulgated several measures in the Islands and the District Administration, South Andaman has effectively implemented all protocols in the District of South Andaman to contain the spread of the pandemic.

No Positive Cases Among Inter-island Passengers
Port Blair, June 23: During the RT-PCR conducted on 297 incoming passengers who arrived here yesterday by flight, 6 positive cases have been detected despite carrying RT-PCR report from mainland, said the Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing the media. He informed that 2 flights with 285 passengers arrived today and the RT-PCR reports are awaited. The RAT conducted on 259 passengers proceeding to N&M Andaman at Ferrargunj no positive case has been detected. Today till 4 pm, 476 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 440 were in the age group of 18-44 and the rest were above 45 plus age group.

Port Blair, June 23: With the persistent efforts of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, 10 oxygen concentrators have been donated by the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa for the benefit of people of these islands and 40 more oxygen concentrators are expected by Friday from them as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The donations are aimed to augment and improve the healthcare facilities in the islands.
