Mammal Identified as Sperm Whale by Experts

Port Blair, Feb 25: A stranded marine mammal was reported by the locals at ‘Saanp Tekri’ in Lalaji Bay, Long Island in the evening of 22nd February 2021. According to the eye-witnesses, the carcass was highly degraded and the marine animal was later identified by experts through the photos circulated on WhatsApp as Sperm Whale. The length of this sea creature was around 9 m and was expected to be carried to shore by high currents.

Port Blair, Feb 25: In order to preserve and promote classical art forms amongst the youth, Kala Kendra- A&N Islands Society for Promotion of Art & Culture in collaboration with Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Cultural Amongst Youth (SPIC-MACAY) has organized a series of Workshop-cum-Demonstrations on Odissi for college students from 23rd to 25th February 2021 at Port Blair with the sole objective of generating awareness on cultural heritage of classical dances of India amongst young students.

Port Blair, Feb 25: Acting on complaint received from a civil society organization, regarding open dumping of waste in a road-side area, Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat under Ferrargunj Block in the South Andaman District, the Department of RD, PRIs and ULBs within hours mobilized the sanitation functionaries and cleared the garbage, which were then shifted to SWM Centre at Shorepoint.
