Port Blair, March 30: The recent weather forecast indicates formation of low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is likely to intensify further during subsequent 24 hours and is likely to become well marked deep depression moving north-easterly direction towards Southern Group of Islands (SGI). Under its influence, heavy rain, squally winds gusting upto 30-35 knots and very rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman sea upto 04 Apr 21.  

Port Blair, March 30: Deen Dayal Upadhyaya - Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development that aims to skill the underserved, rural youth to provide them with a regular source of income.

DDU-GKY is a skilling and placement initiative to “transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce”. 

Swaraj Dweep Gram Panchayat Earns Rs. 65000 from Dry Wastes

Port Blair, March 28: The Directorate of RD & PRIs has finalized the collection, transportation, management and processing of Dry Waste generated in rural areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands through authorized recycler with the objective of converting waste to wealth.

Proper management of waste is important for building sustainable and liveable atmosphere in the Islands. Recently, Gram Panchayat- Swaraj Dweep under Prothrapur Block in South Andaman District handed over more than 18000 Kgs of Dry Waste containing bailed plastic, cardboard etc. collected from the Gram Panchayat to the authorized recycler.

Port Blair, March 27: The Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (Independent Charge) & Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya currently on a three-day visit to these Islands today inaugurated the additional approach Jetty and Extension of Berthing Jetty at Shaheed Dweep in the presence of the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Shipping, Dr. V. Candavelou, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, the Chief Engineer & Administrator, ALHW, Shri T.N Krishnamoorthi and other officials of the A&N Administration and ALHW.
