Port Blair, Feb 25: Acting on complaint received from a civil society organization, regarding open dumping of waste in a road-side area, Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat under Ferrargunj Block in the South Andaman District, the Department of RD, PRIs and ULBs within hours mobilized the sanitation functionaries and cleared the garbage, which were then shifted to SWM Centre at Shorepoint.

Port Blair, Feb 25: Improvement of public service in the UT has always been the main focus area of the Administration for which many proactive steps have been taken. It was observed that for urgent/immediate requirement of cash by the general public availing the services of Motor Vehicle Department/other services, they were required to travel to avail the ATM facility. To resolve their problems, a SBI ATM Outlet was established in the premises of Transport Department and inaugurated on 05.09.2018.

Port Blair, Feb 25: District Child Protection Unit (SA) team under District Administration conducted a workshop at Seva Niketan Children Home, Dairy Farm on 24/02/2021 to cope up with stress related with examinations.
The program started with an activity based on perspective of inmates during examination times. The Counsellor, DCPU (SA) emphasised some important steps to relief themselves from the stress by taking regular break, exercise and getting outdoors, speak to someone, getting sound sleep which would help the children to relieve from the examination stress.

Port Blair, Feb 25: Due to sudden breakdown of vehicle ferry vessel MV Austin–III providing ferry service between Uttara and Gandhi Ghat has been withdrawn from service for rectification of its defects. Presently only one vehicle Ferry vessel MV Austin – IV is providing service at Kadamtala. All efforts are being made by this Directorate to rectify the defects and restore normalcy. The commuters are requested to plan their journey suitably. Inconvenience caused in this regard is regretted, a communication from Deputy Director (SS said here.
