Port Blair, May 24: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has brought to the notice of Chief Secretary that during his recent visit to Garacharma Hospital to see the welfare of patients and para medical staffs, it was observed that the generator of the hospital is not working since last many months.

Port Blair, May 24: Shri Vishal Jolly, Member HMAC and Former President BJP has requested the Lt. Governor to provide compensation to the family at CARI Basti, Chouldari who had lost one person after a tree fell on their house.

The inclement weather caused by Cyclone Yaas had taken life of one Shri Rakesh Singh, 17 Years, son of Shri Ram Pukar Singh of Cari Basti, Chouldari on 23/05/2021. According to available information due to cyclonic weather a tree fell on the house causing severe head injury on Rakesh Singh. Though he was rushed to PHC Chouldari, he succumbed to the injury sustained on his head. Also it is understood that the house has been completely damaged.

A person namely Shri.  Raj Kumar alias Raju S/o Mahender Ram (37 yrs.) R/o Borang, Mayabunder is reported missing since 25/04/2021 from the residence of Shri Domna Gari  at Bamboo Level, Borang, Mayabunder  in the morning between 0400 AM to 0430 AM when he went out with a light blue coloured torch light. Since, then he has not returned back.

Port Blair, May 24: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party has condoled the demise of Shri. Rakesh Singh S/o Shri. Ram Pukar Singh R/o Chouldari who passed away after a tree fell on their house due to the inclement weather caused by cyclone Yaas.  Bairagi has written a letter to the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary of the Islands requesting them to provide adequate relief to the family from LG Relief Fund.

People Urged to Strictly Adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour During Lockdown 

Port Blair, May 23: The Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh today urged the people of the Islands to cooperate with the Administration in combating transmission of corona virus. Addressing a press conference held in the conference hall of IP&T here this evening, he appealed to the citizens to adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour during the opening of shops from 6 am to 8 am during the lockdown which comes into effect from tomorrow (May 24). He mentioned that IAS & IFS Officers have been put on duty to monitor violation of COVID Appropriate Behaviour during the opening of shops between 6 am and 8 am. He also appealed to the people to purchase the essential commodities from nearby shops so that the movement of people can be minimized.
