Instructions Issued to Line Departments to Ensure Basic Amenities are Not Deprived to People

Port Blair, May 15: The second wave of COVID-19 is proving to be more contagious and fatal and to contain the movement of people, complete lockdown has been imposed with effect from 15.05.2021 in the areas of Hopetown, Shorepoint, Bambooflat, Stewartgunj, Govindapuram, Nayapuram, Wimberlygunj, Kanyapuram, Mannarghat, Malappuram, Wright Myo and Shoal Bay under Ferrargunj Tehsil.

Port Blair, May 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma through a letter has requested the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Govt. of India to waive off the EMI of the bank loan of unemployed youths who are into tourism business. 

In his letter, he said that Andaman & Nicobar Islands being a far away and remote place from the rest of the country and don’t have any industry or corporate houses for employment.  The only mode of employment is government job and tourism industry.

Port Blair, May 15: The Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while addressing a COVID-19 media briefing held in the conference hall of IP&T today, informed that the increase in the COVID cases among the persons who are moving to Inter- Island is a matter of great concern. He informed that 74 persons bound for Middle & North Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj, of which 11 persons were found positive. The positive cases among the people who are moving to inter- Islands is still continuing. Its more than a week now, the number is not coming down and is increasing day by day which, he said, is not a good sign. He further disclosed that 3 flights with 292 passengers arrived today and during RAT test conducted on these passengers, 6 persons were found positive.

Port Blair, May 15: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to treat journalists as frontline COVID warriors since they are also in the field interacting with corona worriers, police, general public and have the risk of getting the virus.  He requested that all the journalist who are below the age of 45 years should be vaccinated on priority basis.
