Port Blair, May 10: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party has written a letter to the Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi and Health Minister of India Dr. Harsh Vardhan requesting them to release vaccines for Andaman & Nicobar Islands immediately.

Bairagi mentioned that the second wave of COVID-19 is causing a large number of deaths all over India and also in Andaman & Nicobar Islands the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is increasing every day. He mentioned that some experts are now claiming that a third wave of COVID-19 is inevitable, which may cause more health problems for children. The best prevention is to vaccinate the population but Andaman & Nicobar Islands are not getting sufficient number of COVID-19 vaccines for the age group of 18 to 45 years.

Port Blair, May 10: The local Event Management Company ‘4 Seasons’ of lade after the announcement of lockdown has been noticed distributing relief kits to the really needy ones in and around Port Blair city. The company led by Ashwar Singh has so far distributed around 200 such relief kits to the needy.

Port Blair, May 10: The State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requesting him to arrange a cargo ship for Little Andaman.

Bairagi in his letter has informed the Deputy Commissioner that the residents of Little Andaman are left with very limited options in terms of employment. Most of the families residing in Little Andaman depend on earnings from Coconut and Arecanut produce. Because of non-availability of cargo ships to transport the agriculture produce from Little Andaman, large quantity of Coconut and Arecanuts are lying at Little Andaman and it is getting damaged.

Port Blair, May 10: COVID 19 awareness campaign was conducted at various locations like vegetable market and forest check post Bathubasti and Garacharama by members of REVIVE (local NGO).

During the drive, awareness was spread on washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining social distance, eating healthy and to consult a doctor if symptomatic while requesting the 45+ age group to get vaccinated.

Port Blair, May 9: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to sanction 3 (three) PSA Oxygen Plants for three remote districts namely North & Middle Andaman, South Andaman, Nicobar District out of 500 PSA Oxygen Plants sanctioned and 100 (One hundred) portable oxygen concentrators out of one lakh portable oxygen concentrators sanctioned under PM CARES fund, to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These Plants and Concentrators are to be used in case of any emergency to save the Islanders.
