Port Blair, Dec. 16: The Science Centre, Port Blair shall be organizing a ‘Sky Show’ on 17th & 18th December, 2022 between 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The programme to be presented includes description about the Planet- Saturn & its satellites.   

Port Blair, Dec. 16: The vessel M.V. Swaraj Dweep which sailed from Chennai is expected to arrive at Port Blair on Dec.18, 2022 at 0600 hrs. She has on board a total Passenger of 320 adults + 2 infants (including 2 foreign nationals) and 22 Containers and 276.00 MT cargo.  On arrival, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.

Port Blair, Dec. 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India to give special concession to all stretcher patients of Andaman & Nicobar Islands so that they have to pay the cost of only one seat instead of nine seats to Airlines Companies.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, the Member of Parliament mentioned that Andaman & Nicobar Islands are situated nearly 1200 KM (approx) away from nearest Airport in Mainland India, Chennai and Kolkata. For serious medical cases, evacuation in passenger aircraft remains the only option.

Port Blair, Dec. 16: General public and tourists have been informed that the Museums of National Memorial Cellular Jail will remain closed for the visitors from 2 pm onwards on 19th December, 2022 due to administrative reasons.

Kalighat, Dec 15: The School students of Kalighat and Diglipur today blocked the road at Kalighat, raising demands to provide school buses on time. The ‘Chakka Jam’ protest continued for three hours from the morning at 7.00 AM and the transport services were kept on halt.

Soon after getting the information of the protest by the students, the Assistant Engineer of the State Transport Service rushed to Kalighat spot from his office at Mayabunder. The Tahsildar too reached from Diglipur. The Parents accompanying the students in the strike expressed their agitation stating that the bus services are delayed quite often and as a result the students reach late to their schools at Sita Nagar and Diglipur. Many parents complained that it has become a regular practice and the studies of the students are affected badly. There were many parents from Ramnagar and Nabgram also, whose children are studying in Kalighat Senior Secondary School.
