Sri Vijaya Puram, March 21: A meeting on UT Seed Sub Committee for Agricultural & Horticultural Crops was held under the Chairmanship of Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture.), A & N Administration at Secretariat yesterday to consider the release of 18 new varieties of crops for the UT, which was developed by the Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI).The proposal of crop varieties submitted for consideration in the UT Seed Sub-Committee includes: Rice (Six varieties), Green gram (Five varieties), Black gram (Two varieties), Brinjal (Two varieties), Malabar Tamarind (Two varieties), and Bayleaf (One variety).

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 21: Dr. Ajai Kumar Sonkar, a distinguished scientist known for his pioneering research on the self-cleaning ability of the River Ganges through its diverse bacteriophage ecosystem, has received a prestigious invitation from the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) to present his findings at the Aquaculture Europe 2025 (AE2025) Conference and Exposition in Valencia, Spain, from September 22-25, 2025.
