Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: In a significant development for the labour movement in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. TSG Bhasker, National Vice-President of INTUC Federation and Chairman of Campaign Committee- ANTCC has been unanimously elected as the President of the Forest Labour Union affiliated to INTUC replacing Past President Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma.

The announcement was made during the Union’s General Body Meeting held on April 5, 2025, at 4 PM at the Forest Labour Club, Haddo, Ward No. 1.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: Students of M.Sc. II and IV Semester from the Department of Botany, JNRM, organized a special outreach program on 4th April at Govt. Middle School, Sippighat, under the Village Adoption Program initiative.

Guided by faculty members Mrs. Rashmi Janak and Ms. Shalini, the event featured various creative and educational activities. Students of the school enthusiastically participated in drawing and painting contests, quiz competitions for both junior and senior levels and witnessed a live demonstration on wonders of the microscopic world.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 8: The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A & N Administration has informed that a ‘Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Boat Snorkeling Activity in A&N Islands’ has been prepared in-coordination and consultation with National Institute of Watersports, Goa, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

The draft SOP outlines key safety procedure, required gears and equipment, identifying risk, pre-trip briefing, environmental briefing etc.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: The Directorate of Education and the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs A & N Administration, in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association, is set to organize the first-ever FIDE Rapid Rating Open Chess Tournament- ‘The Andaman-Nicobar Chess Mahasangram 2025’ in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The tournament will take place on April 19-20, 2025, at Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram, in Open Ground, under Floodlights. This event is open to all players, providing participants with the opportunity to earn official FIDE Rapid Ratings, a great chance for chess enthusiasts to gain recognition and boost their rankings.

Diglipur, April 8: Along with the rest of the country, ICDS Project (Rural) Diglipur, North Andaman has launched the 7th Edition of POSHAN Pakhwada from April 8 to 22, 2025, as part of the Government of India's ongoing commitment to address malnutrition. This year's Poshan Pakhwada will emphasize four key themes: Focus on the First 1000 Days of Life, Popularization of the Beneficiary/Citizen Module of Poshan Tracker, Management of Malnutrition through CMAM and Healthy Lifestyle to Address Obesity in Children.
