Port Blair, Aug. 24: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with Education Department is organising a week long different sports activities from Aug. 22 to Aug. 28 in connection with National Sports Day -2022, the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand (Hockey Wizard) on 29th August. To mark the occasion, a 5 Km Road Race (Open) for women and 10 Km Road Race (Open) for Men was held today from Netaji Stadium to Corbyn’s Cove and back to Netaji Stadium.

Port Blair, Aug. 24: As part of celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and in response to Hon'ble Prime Minister's call for planting fruit bearing saplings, National Service Scheme Unit-I of JNRM in association with PBMC, Port Blair organized a Tree Plantation Programme yesterday in the JNRM premises. Around 130 fruit bearing plant saplings were planted in the campus.

Port Blair, Aug. 24: Handicrafts Service Centre, Port Blair, 0/o Development Commissioner of Handicraft, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India is going to organise two months Samarth Handicrafts Training Programme on Traditional Hand Embroidery Craft at South Andaman. Only valid artisan card holder of Traditional Hand embroidery Craft will be eligible for consideration as trainee for the programme.

Port Blair, Aug 24: On the completion of 75 years of Independence, the Government of India has started the campaign of giving free vaccine doses for 75 days aimed at boosting the uptake of COVID-19 precautionary doses and keeping in view the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to ensure that everybody in the family, area or village takes the vaccine, Booster Dose Campaign is being organized by the District Administration, South Andaman in coordination with the PRIs and various associations at multiple places across the District.
