Port Blair, Aug 31: Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi, a prominent NGO dedicated to child welfare, successfully conducted its second awareness camp focused on child sexual abuse for teachers. Held on 31st August 2024 at the auditorium of Girls Senior Secondary School, the camp featured a comprehensive session led by Dr. Bhairghav S, a senior psychiatrist from Apollo Hospital, Chennai.

Young Talents from Andaman & Nicobar Islands Compete in Prestigious Event

Port Blair, Sept 1: The 37th National Under-7 Chess Championships–2024 began today with great fervour in Mysore, Karnataka. This prestigious event has attracted around 380 young chess enthusiasts from across the country, all vying for top honours in a five-day tournament scheduled from September 1 to 5, 2024.

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are proudly represented by seven promising young chess players—four boys and three girls—who are eager to showcase their skills on the national stage. The participants include R. Medanth of Saraswati Shishu Mandir, M. Lavish from Kamraj School, B. Vignesh, five-year-old V. K. Nuhaan Siddique, K. Hemanshi from Carmel Sr. Sec. School, N. Shreenika from KV 1, and R. Vaishnavi from Khalsa Public School.

Ograbraj, Aug 31: Police Station Ograbraj, under the South Andaman District, has taken a commendable initiative aimed at fostering community safety and awareness. The station spearheaded an extensive programme to educate residents on new criminal laws, the ill effects of drug abuse, cybercrime, the POCSO Act 2012, and traffic violations, with experts from each respective unit leading the sessions.

Port Blair, Aug 31: The 2nd ABCD Open Badminton Tournament, organized by the Ambitious Badminton Club Dairy Farm (ABCD), concluded on 29th August 2024 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indoor Badminton Court, Dairy Farm. The tournament, held from 24th to 29th August 2024, was part of the National Sports Day celebrations, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary Hockey Wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The General Body Meeting of Fisheries Sub-Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 31-08-2024 at Crusade House, which discussed various issues pertaining to the employees working in the Department of Fisheries.

The issues include (i) Amendment in Recruitment Rules of various categories (ii) Pay upgradation in various posts like Fisheries Field Assistant, Sub-Inspector Fisheries, etc. (iii) Restructuring of posts for better promotional chances.
