Port Blair, June 23: The Government of India has issued various guidelines on effective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has also envisaged and promulgated several measures in the Islands and the District Administration, South Andaman has effectively implemented all protocols in the District of South Andaman to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Port Blair, June 23: With the persistent efforts of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, 10 oxygen concentrators have been donated by the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa for the benefit of people of these islands and 40 more oxygen concentrators are expected by Friday from them as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The donations are aimed to augment and improve the healthcare facilities in the islands.

Port Blair, June 23: During the lockdown, to offer employment as a livelihood measure to those who need it, MGNREGA played the role of sole source of income for rural households whether during pandemic or otherwise.
Amidst the lockdown, MGNREGA has taken up works with the prime motive to provide employment to the rural population for their livelihood and has successfully generated a total of 22,497 persondays during the months of April to June, 2021.

Port Blair, June 23: The Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration under the flagship rural sanitation programme of Govt. of India – Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II has embarked upon to build up assets for Grey Water Management for scientific management of liquid waste generated in rural areas of the Islands.
As part of the same, the Department has framed an activity-chart along with prescribed timelines for carrying out series of activities. A core group of assessment committees have been constituted comprising of field level officials viz. Panchayat Secretaries, Junior Engineer (PRIs), Village Level Workers, Gram Rozgar Sevak.

Port Blair, June 22: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma had met the Lt. Governor on 21st June 2021 and requested his Excellency to extend the timing schedule from 6 am to 1 pm from the existing lockdown schedule time of 6 am to 10 am. The request was made so that the daily wagers, auto drivers, truck driver, shop keepers, private workers, fishermen folks, farmers, livestock and day to day earners get relieved from the hardships faced by them. The MP has thanked the Lt. Governor for considering the request for extension of timing schedule.
