Port Blair, July 2: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep will sail from Port Blair to Chennai on July 3, 2023 at 1000 hrs. Excess baggage will be loaded from 1400 hrs to 1600 hrs on July 2, 2023. Embarkation of passengers will commence from 0800 hrs on July 3. The embarkation of passengers will be closed one hour before the schedule time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel. The vessel will sail only after completion of survey procedure which will commence on completion of embarkation of passengers for issuance of ‘B’ Certificate as per MS Act.

Mayabunder, July 2: The last date for submission of online application for admission to various UG courses offered by MGGC, Mayabunder has been extended upto July 15, 2023. Hence, the aspirant candidates can avail the facility through the Common College Admission Portal (CCAP) URL: collegeadmission.andaman.gov.in . This is the last chance and there will be no further extension under any circumstances.

Pot Blair, June 30: Mr. J Murgan, 30 years old had been suffering with a diagnosis of GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) and large Hiatus Hernia for the last 10 – 15 years. He had taken consultation with various specialists including chest and T.B., Psychiatrist and was on treatment for Asthma and Chronic Lung Disease but his symptoms never got relieved.

Murgan was later admitted with pain in upper abdomen, breathing difficulty and difficulty in swallowing in the month of March 2023 in the Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery of ANIIMS/ G.B. Pant Hospital. He was investigated with upper GI endoscopy, Barium Swallow USG Abdomen and Chest X-ray. He was found to have large Hiatus Hernia with GERD and oesophagitis gastroesophageal reflex disease (GERD) which occurs when stomach acid repeatedly flows back into the tube connecting the mouth and stomach (esophagus).

Port Blair, June 30: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to form a separate Panchayat Ward for McCarthy Valley Village so that the problem of lack of basic infrastructure is addressed automatically.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that yesterday he had visited the McCarthy Valley Village, located in the Kadamtala region of Middle Andamanand during his visit to McCarthy Valley Village, he had the opportunity to meet with the villagers and understand their hardships and challenges. The villagers have informed him that the lack of basic amenities such as roads, electricity, and clean drinking water has been a persistent issue for the villagers.

Port Blair, June 30: The CPI (M) has urged the Government of India to send a high level technical delegation to Andaman & Nicobar Islands to study the causes of power crisis in the islands. D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M), Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee during his recent visit to Delhi submitted a letter to the Secretary (Power), Government of India on the issues relating to the power sector in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He further demanded to take all necessary steps to increase the power generation in Andaman & Nicobar Islands on an urgent basis considering the fact that power cut of 5 to 6 hours daily are being resorted to in many parts of the South Andaman and North and Middle Andaman Districts.
