Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: In order to ensure that the services provided by the Transport Department are meeting the requirement of commuters in terms of reliability, safety, comfort etc., Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director of Transport along with other officers, visited Bus Terminus, Sri Vijaya Puram yesterday for inspection and assessment of the public transport facilities being provided to the commuters. Condition of buses, terminus, parking & maneuvering arrangements inside the terminal, facilities for the commuters, availability of drinking water, washroom facilities etc. were inspected. Though, fitness expiry dates of the buses were displayed, officials were directed to ensure timely fitness inspection of buses after carrying out the necessary repair works. Directions were also issued for maintaining cleanliness of buses, good upholstery and hygiene inside the buses as well as in the Terminus.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: Working professionally and diligently, the team of Police Station Chatham successfully apprehended one accused involved in a case of criminal breach of trust and fraudulent mortgage of gold.

On 30th June, 2024, a complaint has been lodged by Smti. V. Sumathi at PS Chatham against her brother-in-law P.K. Murugeshan, S/o P. Krishnan R/o Anarkali. The complaint alleged that Murugeshan had mortgaged her gold ornaments without her consent or knowledge at Muthoot Finance and fled the Islands with the proceeds. Upon this, an FIR was filed under the relevant sections of the law at PS Chatham.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: The decision of a civil court in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to entertain a petition seeking a survey of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah to ascertain if there was a temple beneath it, is unwarranted and has no legal standing. It goes against the provisions of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, which decrees that no legal dispute can be raised on a religious place that existed prior to August 15, 1947.

Tushnabad, Nov. 28: A delegation of 18 Presidents (Pradhan) from Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu along with Smti. Lalitha Tigga, BDO Ferrargunj, and staff visited Gram Panchayat Tushnabad. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed and the Pradhan Shri Anand Amrit Raj presented an overview of the Panchayats development initiatives, challenges, and fund utilization.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: The month of November is celebrated annually as Adoption Awareness Month by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), underscoring the critical role of adoption under the Mission Vatsalya Scheme within the Non-Institutional Care Program.

In this context, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), under the District Administration, South Andaman, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services and the Child Development Project Office (Urban), organized an awareness program on adoption and other child protection legislations. The event was held on 28th November 2024 at the ICDS Training Centre, Attam Pahad, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Auxiliary Nurse Midwives, Public Health Nurses, and ICDS staff.
