Port Blair, Sept. 11: Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded introduction of Postgraduate Degree Course in Economics in JNRM, Port Blair for the benefit of the students of these islands. In a letter sent to the Lt Governor, A & N Islands, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee said that there are three Arts & Science Colleges functioning in Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the last several decades. While the JNRM, Port Blair (formerly Government College, Port Blair) was established in the year 1967, the Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder (originally established in Car Nicobar) was established in the year 1990 and the Andaman College, Port Blair was established in 2014, to cater to the requirements of the students of these islands.

Port Blair, Sept. 11: The Block Project Office, Wimberlygunj organized a Medical Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) students at GSSS Wimberlygunj on Sept. 6, 2024. Dr. Manoharan, Deputy Education Officer of Wimberlygunj who was the chief guest spoke on the significance of Medical Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs.
The chief guest along with the medical team distributed Aid and Appliances to the CwSN students. The entire programme was conducted with the support of State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha.

Port Blair, Sept. 11: The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Campaign for 2024-25 is designed to provide short-term credit to support the rearing of animals and birds. The eligibility criteria for availing KCC include farmers, both individual and joint borrowers involved in animal husbandry. Poultry and dairy farmers are eligible and must own, rent, or lease sheds for housing the animals.

Car Nicobar, Sept. 11: Kharif Campaign was launched at Mus village in Car Nicobar by the Department of Agriculture in association with UTATMA yesterday. The campaign, a month long programme will be conducted in all the 15 villages. This campaign is conducted every year to create awareness among the farmers about the various ongoing Schemes of the Agriculture and allied Departments.

Port Blair, Sept. 11: One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an online awareness session on three new criminal laws namely, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita replaces the Indian Penal Code, the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita replaces the Criminal Procedure Code of 1973 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaces the Indian Evidence Act.
