Port Blair, Dec. 9: In a great blow to the autocratic and anti-working class policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre and its Administration in A&N Islands, the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta on 2nd December 2022 has imposed a cost of Rs. 1.25 lakh  on the A&N Administration to be paid to the CITU-affiliated Andaman Sarvajanik Nirman Vibhag Mazdoor Sangh (ASNVMS) within one week for the dilatory tactics adopted by the Govt of India and A&N Administration in pursuing the  Appeal filed by  them against the  judgement dated 13th  December 2019, directing the Administration and Govt. of India  to extend the financial benefits of 1/30th of pay plus DA Scheme to all the DRM workers from the date of their initial appointment as per the Govt. of India’s order of 1988.

Port Blair, Dec. 9: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to open the newly built Girls’ Hostel of ANCOL as soon as possible after completing the pending works so that it brings some relief for girl students and to extend the capacity of all Boys’ and Girls’ hostels of JNRM and ANCOL as well as MGGC, keeping next ten years’ demand in mind.

Conclave Aims at Understanding the in-situ Issues Hindering the Growth of Food Processing Sector

Port Blair, Dec.9: The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India with the support of   Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata and Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration organized ‘Andaman Food Processing Conclave’ on 8th December, 2022 at Megapode Nest here. Agriculture and Food Processing is one of the major sectors of the Indian economy in view of its large potential for growth and likely socio-economic impact specifically on employment, wealth and income creation. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India is taking initiatives to promote investment, Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme and awareness for up-gradation of technology in the food processing industries sector in Andaman through this Seminar where all important stake holders will meet and discuss critical issues pertaining towards development of industry in food processing sector.
