Port Blair, Dec. 16: CPI (M) has demanded immediate convening of Administrator’s Advisory Committee in order to discuss all important policy matters, which are currently under process in the Administration.  In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A&N State Organising Committee said that a body namely Administrator’s Advisory Committee was formed ten years back comprising Heads of Political Parties in the Islands, a few representatives of Municipal and Panchayati Raj Institutions, etc. to ensure some kind of people’s participation in the policy matters.  It was observed that the functioning of the Committee was not satisfactory and only once in a while the meeting of the Committee was convened. However, for the last 3 – 4 years, no meeting of the Committee has been held. 

Port Blair, Dec. 16: To foster camaraderie and sportsman spirit as also to encourage wide participation in sports activities, Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command conducted a Cross Country Championship on 16 Dec 22.

A total of 50 personnel of all ranks from the four components participated with josh and enthusiasm. The 10 Km long cross-country run commenced from Majar Dargah near Science Centre and ended at Air Force unit routing through Carbyn crossing, INS Utkrosh Main Gate and Bathu Basti.

Port Blair, Dec. 16: On 14/12/2022 at 03:45 PM information was received at Police Station Swaraj Dweep regarding missing of one lady in forest near Kalapatthar beach named Ankita Suryavanshi (29 yrs) D/O Ajay Kumar Singh, who came here on tour from Allahabad, UP alongwith her parent. In response to this, a team of PS Swaraj Dweep immediately swung into action led by I/c PS SI Issac Nixon.

Port Blair, Dec. 16: A new association of water sports operators from all islands of A&N Islands has been formed under the leadership of Shri. M. Vinod who is also the President of Andaman Association of Tour Operators.

In a meeting held at Hotel King’s, Haddo attended by all major stake holders from Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep, Vinod was unanimously elected as the President of the association.

Port Blair, Dec. 16: A meeting of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was held on Nov.9. The Board unanimously approved 1247 pending claims of the beneficiary workmen under various welfare schemes. The claims of 1155 beneficiaries amounting to Rs. 2.35 Crores have been successfully transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts whose Aadhaar were seeded with their bank accounts. The remaining claims could not be released as the registered beneficiary’s Aadhaar was not seeded with their savings bank account which is pre-requisite for transfer of benefits under PFMS Portal.
