Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: As directed by Prof. Balaji Ramakrishnan, Director, NIOT, a “Training Cum Orientation Program on Seaweed Cultivation” was organized jointly with the Fisheries Department, A&N Administration at NIOT-ACOSTI, Sri Vijaya Puram on 13.03.2025. A total of 25 SHG members and officials from ANIIDCO & the Rural Development Department participated.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: On the eve of Holi celebration, the Directorate of Art and Culture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with Bhojpuri Samaj of the Isles organized a ‘Faag’ programme at Andaman Club today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, as the chief guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp in the presence of Secretary (Vigilance), Shri Neeraj Bharthi, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), Ms Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Secretary (SVPMC), Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: The valedictory function of the Seven-Day Skill Development Training Program on Beach Lifeguarding organised by Tourism Department, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, in coordination with the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (RLSS) India was held today in Andaman Teal House with great enthusiasm. The program, aimed at enhancing the skills of local unemployed youths. 158 applications were received, of which, 50 candidates were shortlisted on basis of the skill test in swimming i.e. time consumed for swimming 100 m and 100 m running conducted at Corbyn’s Cove Beach on 1st & 2nd March, 2025. This training program was successfully completed by 50 local aspirants from different Islands. They were imparted hands on training in essential lifesaving techniques, water rescue operations, and first aid procedures.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram in collaboration with its KVKs, is set to host the Kisan Mela from March 18th to 19th, 2025, at the Mela ground located in the Garacharma Research Complex. The event is anticipated to attract approximately 1,000 farmers from various gram panchayats across the South, Middle, and North Andaman & Nicobar districts.
