Port Blair, June 21: The Seventh International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at various units and formations across the A&N Islands, from INS Kohassa in Diglibur, INS Utkrosh in Port Blair and AF Station, Car Nicobar to INS Baaz at Campbell Bay.  Personnel of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) practiced Yoga on 21 Jun 21 through organised online events along with their families from within the confines of their homes.  

Port Blair, June 21: International Yoga Day 2021 is observed on 21st June 2021 across the globe. The theme for this year is “Yoga for Well Being”. To mark the occasion, all the children of Child Care Institutions practised Yoga to begin their day. The main aim to observe this day among the children of CCI is to help children manage their anxiety. The breathing exercises and relaxation techniques helps children with stress management especially during this COVID-19 pandemic due to which the children are under tremendous mental and physical stress.

Port Blair, June 21: Due to technical snag, the services of one of the vehicle ferry vessel MV Pillopanja operating between Middle Strait and Baratang has been withdrawn on 21st June 2021. Following this, the services of only one vehicle ferry vessel MV North Bay will be available for service in the above route. The withdrawal of one vehicle ferry vessel may lead to disruption in free tranship movement of vehicles through the vehicle ferry vessels in the route which is regretted.

Port Blair, June 21: To commemorate the 7th International Yoga Day, Indian Coast Guard units conducted Yoga session all over Isles with due adherence to COVID-19 precautions. The yoga sessions were in-line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards spreading the importance of Yoga globally for both physical and mental wellbeing of the individuals.

DM South Andaman Relaxes Timings for Essential and Non-Essential Businesses

Port Blair, June 21: In order to place stricter measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District to control the surge in the cases of COVID-19 and also to prevent any disturbance to the peace and tranquillity and taking into consideration the request of the public representatives and general public, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS in an order no. 773 dates 21st June 2021 has ordered continuation of the current lockdown w.e.f. 22nd June 2021. The lockdown has been extended for a week upto 28th June 2021 with more relaxation in timings.

Highlights:

Shops selling essential items to be allowed to operate from 06.00 am to 1.00 pm

Shops dealing with non-essential items shall be allowed to open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 06:00 AM to 1:00 PM

In-situ construction activities shall be permitted, but no movement of labourers is permitted out of the work site.
