Port Blair, May 24: The domestic flight operations will be commencing from today (25th May 2020). All airlines, including Air India have started ticket booking for May 25 and onwards with the civil aviation department giving a go-ahead to airlines to resume domestic air activities. Bookings had started from May 22 after the directorate general of civil aviation approved the schedule of the airlines. The flight services are beginning after a gap of two months as all flights were cancelled from March 25 onwards owing to the total lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Port Blair, May 24: The UT Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has framed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed by all passengers, Airports Authority, Airline Operators and others concerned. The SOPs have been framed considering the commencement of domestic flight operations from Monday.

Andaman & Nicobar Administration Joins the Battle Expressing its Concerns for the Stranded
Port Blair, May 22: After the letter battle and competition of the political parties and trade unions on transportation of the stranded did not yield results, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has come up with a release now stating that it is making all out efforts to transport the stranded personnel by the fastest means available. It is astonishing that the same Andaman & Nicobar administration which was not decided on whether to transport the stranded before or after the lockdown, now announces its concern for the stranded. The kind of approach of the authorities in the A&N Administration has only proved that they are no less when it comes to the competition of becoming the messiah for the stranded.

Port Blair, May 24: In addition to the flights commencing operations with effect from 25th May 2020, the GOI/ MHA has also given approval for transportation of stranded personnel. The following sailing has been planned for transportation of stranded personnel to and from Chennai. Sailings to Vishakapatnam and Kolkata will be scheduled subsequently, subject to clearance from the respective states and availability of vessels.
Port Blair to Chennai: MV Nancowry, 1700 Hrs on 26th May 2020.
Chennai to Port Blair: MV Nicobar, 1600 Hrs on 28th May 2020.

Port Blair, May 22: The areas of Bambooflat, Hopetown, Shorepoint, Stewartgunj, Nayapuram, Kanyapuram, Wimberlygunj (part), Jadakachang & Govindpuram were designated as Containment Zone in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
