Port Blair, Sept. 2: The Department of Art & Culture and Kala Kendra Society organized a Patriotic Dance & Music Competition at Andaman Club here today. In the competition, Brishty Ray was the winner of the patriotic song (solo category) while M Arun and Retesh secured second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded with certificates and cash awards of Rs 2500/- , Rs. 1500/-& Rs. 1000/- respectively.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: The Raising Day celebration of the Bhojpuri Samaj of A&N Islands was held in the auditorium of TGCE here today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS as the chief guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional oil lamp in the presence of the guest of honour of the function, the Director General of Police, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS. The Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh and good number of people from Bhojpuri Samaj were also present.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded for urgent posting of a full-time Tehsildar for Diglipur Tehsil.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has been informed by the residents and PRI members of Diglipur region that the Diglipur Tehsil has been working without a Tehsildar for nearly past three months.

As a step forward, the UT Administration has formulated policies for various tourism activities i.e. Caravan Tourism, House Boat Tourism, Bird Watching, Beach Shacks, Luxury Tents. Caravan Tourism Policy, Bird Watching Policy and Beach Shacks Policy have already been placed in the public domain, inviting comments/suggestions from tourism stakeholders and general public. The last date for receipt of comments/suggestions in respect of Caravan Tourism Policy, Bird Watching Policy is 12.9.2023 and Beach Shacks Policy by 20.9.2023.
