Rangat, Aug. 31: An awareness program on proper implementation of several Labour Laws was held today in the Conference Hall of the DFO Office, Rangat. The program was attended by ministerial and industrial workers of the Middle Andaman Division of Department of Forest, A&N Administration.   The program was conducted by Shri. Suranjan Mukhopadhyay, Assistant Labour Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Department of Labour. He explained various Labour Laws in detail, including the Employees' Workmen Compensation Act, 1923, the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976, and the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961. He also discussed the rights and benefits that workers are entitled to under these laws.

Port Blair, Aug. 31: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online free of cost, a people-centric move that will benefit millions of residents.   As part of Digital India Initiative, the UIDAI took this decision and has urged the residents to get benefit of free document update facility on myAadhaar portal. The free service is available till 14th September, 2023.

Port Blair, Aug. 31: Small arms range practice of IRBn Personnel is scheduled to be carried out at PTS, Firing Range, Bird Line, Prothrapur on Sept. 1, 5, 8, 12, 19, 22 and 29, 2023 from 0600 hrs to 1500 hrs.

Port Blair, Aug. 31: The general public have been informed that, to manage the shortfall of power generation through available power, ongoing load shedding will be continued in Port Blair and South Andaman area during evening peak hours from 1630 hrs to 0100 hrs for one and half hour, if required, on daily basis as per schedule given below.

The below mentioned load shedding schedule is purely tentative and the duration & timing may vary depending on available power generation and other technical reasons. The schedule will be enforced for next 15 days or till further intimation.
