Port Blair, Aug. 7: In the series of 100 awareness programmes on ‘ill effects of alcohol and drug abuse’, the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCAs) & Police Department conducted its 12th awareness programme for the students and teachers of GSSS School Line, RBV Sr. Sec. School, Ummat Public School, Kamraj Sr. Sec. School and V.K.V Port Blair on July 26, 28, 31, Aug 1, 2, & 4, 2023 respectively in which more than 480 students & teacher were sensitized on the topic under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.

Port Blair, Aug 6: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken a number of steps towards ensuring the welfare of Anganwadi workers of A&N Islands. On 04.08.2023 taking up the welfare issue of Anganwadi workers of A&N Islands to highest level, he moved a Private Member's bill in Parliament, titled "The Anganwadi Workers of Andaman and Nicobar (Regularization of Service and Welfare) Bill, 2023."

Port Blair, Aug. 7: The vessel MV swaraj Dweep will sail from Port Blair to Vizag at 10 am on Aug. 9, 2023. Excess baggage will be loaded from 2pm to 4pm on Aug. 8, 2023. Embarkation of passengers will commence from 8 am on Aug. 9, 2023 which will be closed one hour before the scheduled departure time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel.
