Port Blair, Feb 1: The Union Budget 2023-24 has come at a time when the Indian economy has slowed down after the Covid pandemic for last 02 years. There is a global economic crisis all over and still many countries including India is trying to come out of it. Under this situation this budget should have addressed the core issues and must have included some concrete measures for boosting the economy and job creation.

Port Blair, Feb 1: A Chirag Kumar, a class VII student of Naval Children School Port Blair has become the second A&N Islands’ chess player after R Kashthuri Bhai to have opened International Rating, both in Standard and Rapid Formats of Chess game as per the latest International Ratings published by the World Chess Federation on 31st January 2023. He recently participated in a Rapid Tournament at Bengaluru and played reasonably well which led him to open International Rapid Rating.

Port Blair, Feb 1:  Nagarpalika Swachhtha Karmachari Sangh (NSKS) affiliated with Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh, BMS has represented before the authorities of PBMC and submitted various grievances for the well-being of the Sanitary Workers, who are keeping this City clean and tidy.

Since August 2021, the NSKS had initiated the issues of basic requirements for the working culture to all employees and preventive measures. Subsequently several correspondences were made but no action was seen on ground for redressing the issues.

Port Blair, Feb 1: The 3rd Death Anniversary of CPI (M) leader Comrade Tapan Bepari was observed in the islands on 30th January, 2023.  At Port Blair, party leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the departed leader at a programme organized at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali. D.Ayyappan, Secretary and Shri D. Laxman Rao, State Secretariat Member of CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee briefly recalled the contribution of Comrade Tapan Bepari in organizing people especially those in North and Middle Andaman District.

Port Blair, Feb 1: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA) of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair today organized a farewell function to bid farewell to Shri. Krishna Roy, Skilled Supporting Staff of this Institute. He has served for more than 30 years in the Institute and retired on 31st January, 2023 on attaining the age of superannuation.
