Port Blair, July 1: Every year, July 1 is observed as National Doctors’ Day in the memory of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, who had his birth and death anniversary on the same day. The day, commemorated by Indian Medical Association (IMA), is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving people by risking their lives. Dr Roy, former Chief Minister of Bengal, was known for his selfless service.

Port Blair, July 1: Government departments and general public is hereby informed that the committee constituted for weeding out the documents with respect to Nicobar District has decided to weed out various documents pertaining to Police Stations of Car Nicobar, Nancowrie, Katchal & Teressa for the period from 2000 to 2010. Any person/ department having any claim or objection pertaining to these documents shall intimate to the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District within one month from the date of publication of this notice after which no claim will be entertained and the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District will proceed with weed out process of these documents without further notice.

Port Blair, July 1: Continuing its crackdown on the illicit liquor, Handia and illegal sale IMFL, the district police of North & Middle Andaman has been conducting regular searches in jungles. In the just ended month of June, the teams of various police stations, headed by SHOs and sub-inspectors conducted 34 such search operations in the jungles. In these search operations, around 4500 litres of Lahan and Handia was destroyed. The strict vigil over the history sheeters and known bootleggers has also been identified. All the history sheeters are regularly being checked by the beat staff, making it hard for them to be involved in any illegal activity.

Port Blair, July 1: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to extend permission for plying of Private buses in South Andaman area. There are about 200 driver, conductors and cleaners who earn their livelihood from this sector may also be considered by allowing operating the private buses. 

Port Blair, July 1: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 1,79,963 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2, 81, 603 (approx.). A total of 52,105 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date. A total of 2358 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands.
