103 ILI/SARI Cases Detected by Field Staffs After a Two-day Combing Operation

Port Blair, June 21: The entire villages under Little Andaman were declared as containment zone after the sudden surge in COVID positive cases in the Island. In order to contain further spread of virus, the District Administration has taken various proactive steps.

As many as 127 staffs from various departments have been engaged for field surveillance, who are involved in conducting door to door survey and collecting information regarding the health status. Two teams consisting of 17 staffs have also been formed who are acting as Supervisors and Coordinators for collecting the information from the field staffs, for providing medical guidance, medicines and other required help/guidance to the public.

Port Blair, June 21: The Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh today said that the A&N Administration has extended the lockdown by giving some more relaxations. The order to this effect has been issued by the District Magistrate, South Andaman today and will in force till June 28, 2021.

The Secretary disclosed that during the RT-PCR conducted on 489 incoming passengers who arrived here yesterday by flight, 6 positive cases have been detected despite carrying RT-PCR report from mainland. Two flights with 300 passengers arrived today and the RT-PCR reports are awaited. He also stated that during the RAT conducted on 192 passengers proceeding to N&M Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. Today till 3 pm, 382 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 330 were in the age group of 18-44 and the rest were above 45 plus age group.

Port Blair, June 21: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has humbly requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister to provide 3.5 lakh doses of vaccines to A&N Islands and also 2DG medicines which will reduce oxygen dependency. The Andaman MP has also requested to send few specialists for starting Monoclonal Antibody treatment facilities in order to bring down the death rate of Covid patients to nil.

Port Blair, June 21: Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) participated in commemorating the Centenary of the World Hydrography Day on 21 Jun 2021. The occasion is celebrated by the Hydrographic fraternity of the Indian Navy every year through a series of coordinated events at the respective Commands to spread awareness of hydrography and its contribution in ensuring safe navigation at sea as well as to showcase achievements and contributions of the Indian Naval Hydrographic Organisation. The theme for the event this year is "100 years of International Cooperation in Hydrography".
