Port Blair, April 19: A COVID Vaccination camp was set up at Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School by NGO Navodhaya Foundation today. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri.Suneel Anchipeka took the initiative to involve NGO's in reaching out to general public and create awareness about COVID Vaccination.

Navodhaya was tasked to conduct the camp one day prior and within a short notice the NGO, under the leadership of its director Smt. Protima Banerjee managed to organise the vaccination camp and achieved the target set up by the District Administration.

Port Blair, April 19: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration requesting him to declare Ram Navami as Public Holiday.

Bairagi mentioned that Ram Navami is not declared as a Public Holiday in spite of its great importance among the Hindu Community.

Port Blair, April 18: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Secretary (Education), A&N Administration to make arrangements for providing Desk and Benches for the students at Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Swadesh Nagar and Govt. Secondary School, Pinaki Nagar under Mayabunder Tehsil. 

Need to Strictly Adhere to COVID-19 Protocol & COVID Appropriate Behavior Stressed

Port Blair, April 18: The number of corona positive cases is increasing in A&N Islands which is quite alarming and poses a great challenge for the Administration despite the best efforts to contain the spread of the virus. This was stated by the Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T today. Giving details of the number of positive cases detected today during RAT conducted at Port Blair, the Secretary said till 2 pm, 21 cases have been detected. Out of this, 18 were flight passengers, 1 from Mohanpura Bus Stand, 1 from Jetty area and another from Ferrargunj.

3090 Doses of COVISHIELD Administered on Sunday

Port Blair, April 18: There is an overwhelming response from the people of the Islands towards COVID vaccination drive launched by the A&N Administration. The vaccination sessions are continuing in various designated Vaccination Centres set up in different parts of the Islands and the medical team engaged for this purpose is putting their best effort to cover maximum persons on a daily basis. The total vaccination dozes administered to the beneficiaries has now reached 83043. Today (April 18), the medical teams in different designated Vaccination Centres have administered 3090 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons.
