Narendra Modi for providing free vaccine to fellow compatriot above 18 years and remarked the India witnessing benevolent governance under the able leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Port Blair, June 7: Though the number of corona positive cases in the Islands has come down marginally, but, we cannot be complacent with the marginal decline and as a precautionary measure, the Administration has decided to further extend the lockdown till June 14.  This was stated by the Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh today addressing the media persons on COVID-19 status in the Islands in the conference hall of IP&T here this evening adding that unlocking might again give rise to increase in number of cases in the Islands as the priority of the Administration is to protect its citizens and flatten the curve.

Port Blair, June 7: The South Andaman District Administration has left no stone unturned in supporting the people of this Islands and today District administration reached the northern most tip and remotest part of the district Shoal Bay 19,Chouldari & Ograbraj for distribution of ration kits and ayurvedic medicine in association with Civil society organisations.

Port Blair, June 7: The pandemic situation is being monitored by the District Administration. Though there is a marginal dip in the positive cases, it has been felt that the Administration cannot be complacent until there is drastic reduction in the number of positive cases.

In order to place stricter measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District to control the surge in the cases of COVID-19 and also to prevent any disturbance to the peace and tranquillity, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka IAS has ordered extension of the present lockdown from 8th June 2021 to 14th June 2021.

Port Blair, June 7: The Administration is ever committed for the welfare of the Islanders and during this pandemic time, to shield its citizens from the dreaded virus, it has initiated vaccination drive in the Islands. The vaccination began with administering of COVISHIELD vaccine for Health Care Workers followed by frontline workers and vulnerable population with co-morbidities. Subsequently, the vaccination for 45 and above was initiated followed by 18 to 44 years which is currently underway.
