We cannot relax as careless move would result in further surge: Secretary IP&T
Port Blair, June 4: Signs of marginal dip in number of COVID positive cases are visible but the rate of reduction is slow and we cannot be complacent until the Islands are free from the virus. Addressing media persons on COVID-19, the Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh today said that its encouraging to see COVID cases are starting to fall due to lockdown restrictions. “We cannot relax – the drop in cases is slow and numbers could quickly move the other way if we are careless”, he said urging the people to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour and get vaccinated, when an appointment is offered.

Efforts of CS Jitendra Narain Helps Add 50 More Oxygen Concentrators to Augment Health Infrastructure
Port Blair, June 4: In continuation of persistent efforts of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, 50 Oxygen concentrators have been donated for the benefit of people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands by M/s Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Swarajdweep as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The concentrators were received by Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA), SDM(SA) and AC (U/T) on behalf of the Administration.

Port Blair, June 4: The SP/N&MA visited the police guard deployed at LOP East Island and Burma (Karen) Nallah ahead of the rainy reason. During his visit, he reviewed the infrastructural setup and interacted with the staff to get their feedback about how to make the functioning of LOPs more effective.

Port Blair, June 4: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has been actively monitoring the price and availability of all essential commodities including groceries and agro-horticultural products in the markets of this UT. On 03rd June, 2021 it is reported from various corners that there is a sudden hike in price of vegetables which was found to be created artificially to exploit the consumers.
Taking a serious note of this issue in the interest of the consumers, the Enforcement team of this Directorate conducted a surprise inspection and intervened to control the retail selling price of vegetables which is accordingly capped as under:

Port Blair, June 4: The President of Nicobar Youth Association, Mr. Rayhaan Pasha has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to establish the necessary infrastructure for Covid Care Centres in the Nicobar Islands as the Covid-19 pandemic is creating havoc across the world and causing major turmoil in the lives of millions of Indian. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands have also been badly affected by this pandemic, and maybe the number of cases can be increase day by day in our Islands. A number of recent initiatives taken by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to control the wrath of this pandemic are much appreciable. However, even after numerous efforts of the Administration, the situation is getting more complex and worrisome with each passing day.
