Port Blair, Aug. 31: The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an online awareness session on cyber security threats and its solution with the objective to understand common cyber security threats and explore practical solutions to protect personal and organizational data.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), stressed on the importance of Cyber Security solution by highlighting that growing number and sophistication of Cyber threats attacks target user directly and many cyber mishaps stem from a lack of security awareness. The cyber threats attacks both individuals and organizations. To prevent cyber-attacks, the individual must aware to use secure digital platform.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The ANCOL Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the Andaman AIDS Control Society (ANACS), organized a college level 5 km Marathon competition, titled ‘Red Run’ to create awareness about AIDS and show solidarity with those affected by the disease. The event took place at ANCOL campus and concluded at Corbyn’s Cove Beach.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The National Council of Science Museum, Kolkata (NCSM) has partnered with NCERT, Ministry of Education, GoI and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) to conduct the mega event Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2024-25 for school students of class VI to XI. This talent search examination will be held on Oct. 23 or Oct. 27, 2024 in 12 major regional Indian languages along with English & Hindi. It is designed to be carried out using digital devices (App based) such as Mobile Phone, Tablet, Laptop/Desktop etc. This 90 minutes open book examination can be attempted by the students on any of the above exam dates between 10 am to 6 pm either from their school or from their home. The topper students will then participate in the next level of examination at state and thereafter at national levels consist of application oriented multiple choice questions, hands-on activities, observation and analysis, situational problem solving ability and a series of other activities.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The ICDS, Ferrargunj, and Urban Project, South Andaman, jointly organized the launching event of Poshan Maah 2024 in the Community Hall, Chouldhari today. Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) is an initiative of the Govt. of India, celebrated throughout September, to promote awareness and action on nutrition. The theme of the year’s celebration is “#Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” emphasizes the importance of planting trees in honor of mothers, symbolizing their nurturing nature. It focuses on encouraging the consumption of locally available, nutritious foods and promoting healthy eating habits.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: Shri Dhanyakumar Jinappa Gunde, Hon'ble Member, National Commission for Minorities, GoI is arriving on a 3 days visit to A&N Islands tomorrow (Sept. 2). After arrival, Hon'ble Member, National Commission for Minorities will hold meetings with representatives of Minority Communities and also with Deputy Commissioner (SA), SDM, SP, District Minority Officer of Port Blair District at Conference Hall of Secretariat. Thereafter, Hon'ble Member, National Commission for Minorities is also scheduled to visit National Memorial Cellular Jail and witness Light & Sound Show at Cellular Jail Complex. On completion of visit Hon'ble Member will depart for mainland on Sept. 5.
