Port Blair, April 8: A teacher posted at a remote School in Middle Andaman was in urgent need to proceed to Port Blair for the treatment of his wife. As the medical specialist at Port Blair scheduled time for her appointment on 4th April, he applied for 4 days Casual leave (CL) from 3rd April ,well in advance, with his Principal. Two days ahead of the journey he was intimated that the A&N Administration has withdrawn the authority of the Principal to grant any kind of leave to his subordinates. He also learned that he now has to apply to the Director of Education stationed at Port Blair for sanctioning of any kind of leave and station leaving permission. This teacher then applied for leave through his Principal and somehow managed to send it to the Directorate of Education. The teacher was under tremendous pressure today as the condition of his wife is deteriorating day by day and no word from the authorities reached him till date regard to his leave.

Port Blair, April 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to make necessary immediate arrangements for sailing of passenger boat for Hut Bay to bring the stranded  passengers. Among those stranded are patients and students who are to attend their offline mode examinations at JNRM college Port Blair commencing from 9th April 2021.

Port Blair, April 8: The Department of Food Safety conducted surprise checking and sampling of milk, from the vendors of South Andaman District in the morning hours of 08/04/2021 and collected 32 samples of milk from various milk vendors to ensure quality and safety checking of the dairy product.

Port Blair, April 8: India Tourism Port Blair in association with Andaman Association of Tour Operators has started a workshop on Saathi and SOPs for Hospitality Staff of the islands. The inaugural programme began today at Hotel Pallika Palace, Delanipur. Altogether 25 Participants from various hotels participated in today’s programme.

Port Blair, April 8: The Revenue Department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Government land in South Andaman District during the first week of April and restored an area of 31020 Sq. Mtrs approximately of Government land into Government Khata. As a part of Zero Tolerance towards encroachment, these eviction drives were conducted in various villages of Port Blair, Ferrargunj and Little Andaman Tehsil.
