Secretary (Health) attended the 24th Video Conference chaired by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on Emerging situation & management of COVID-19 and Vaccination status.

Port Blair, April 27: Five days after the arrest of Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani by Assam police from Palanpur circuit house, Banaskantha, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee leaders have come out in protest to condemn the incident.

On April 26, Congress leaders led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and DCC President Mr. V.K Abdul Aziz protested in Wimberligunj Junction. They raised slogans against the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Port Blair, April 27: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Andaman, organized a National campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on “Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati” under Kisan Bhagedari Prathamikta Humare on 26th April 2022 by inviting farmers, farmwomen and Public representatives. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about need and importance of Natural Farming along with discussion on Millets, oilseeds and bio fortified crops.

Port Blair, April 27: Miss V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat along with Pradhan Hopetown met CE, APWD and apprised him about the problems being faced by the general public. She raised the issue of water shortage in rural areas and suggested that the water project at Hopetown (Nimbu Bageecha) can be expedited so that the crisis during Summer can be managed.

Port Blair, April 27: The major chunk of land in A&N Islands is under forest cover and land is scarcely available for other uses such as agriculture, dwelling and developmental projects. Out of the available land earth cutting, levelling, transportation and dumping of earth is required to develop the same for various purposes. However, to keep the ecology of the islands and to maintain the environmental balance, the cutting of earth and its movement from one place to another requires clearance and permission of the concerned Deputy Commissioners, which is given strictly on the basis of the recommendations by the field functionaries based on the importance and requirements of the activities to be carried out on the particular land.
