Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Department of Agriculture, Rangat Zone, Middle Andaman organized one day Seed Mela at Panchayat Hall, Kadamtala in association with private seed dealers of Rangat Zone for the benefit of farmers.
At the outset Smti. S.C.Rekha, Assistant Director (Agri.), Rangat welcomed the Chief Guest and others present and briefed on the purpose of conducting Seed Mela, as this was a demand of farmers and on the request of Shri. Jyotirmoy Bawali, EX-ZPM to the Assistant Commissioner, Rangat.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Department of Agriculture, Rangat Zone, Middle Andaman in association with Union Territory Agricultural Management Agency (UTATMA) organized two “Demonstration on Vermi Composting” in the field of Shri. Promotho Mondal, Kadamtala and in the field of Shri. Sidharth Sankar Das, Uttara on 09/12/2021 as per approved Block Action Plan for the year 2021-22.

Port Blair, Dec. 9: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma in his capacity as a Member of Parliament has introduced a Private Member’s Bill titled ‘The Compulsory Sports & Physical Education and Infrastructure Development in schools of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Bill, 2019 in the Lok Sabha on 3rd December 2021. The intent behind presenting the bill is to mandate free and compulsory sports education from primary to senior secondary level and provide requisite infrastructure in schools.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: A total of 5,72,860 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2,81,603 (approx.). A total of 1,76,631 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date. A total of 3101 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands.

Port Blair, Dec. 9: In order to internationally recognize extraordinary seamanship skills and outstanding courage displayed by individuals at sea, International Maritime Organization (IMO) award for exceptional bravery at sea is conferred annually to individuals or groups who, at the risk to their own life, perform acts of exceptional bravery in attempting to save life at sea or in attempting to prevent or mitigate damage to the marine environment.
