Port Blair, July 8: Inputs received by Andaman Chronicle informs that two dead bodies one of a lady and the other of her child was found at a rented accommodation at Austinabad, Port Blair today afternoon. It is learnt that the bodies of the lady and child is the wife of a Defence Personnel attached to Indian Navy and posted in INS Utkrosh. The naval personnel had returned home in the afternoon for lunch when he found the bodies. While the body of the lady was found hanging from the fan, the child who was in a serious condition succumbed in the evening. However there is no official confirmation or information received in this matter from the Police yet.

Port Blair, July 8: The recent weather forecast indicates likely formation of low pressure area over north Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast on 11th Jul 2021. The South West Monsoon is also likely to intensify over Andaman Sea in next 2-3 days. Under its influence, squally weather with high wind speed and rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman Sea from 09 – 12 Jul 2021.

Port Blair, July 9: The Deputy Commissioner/District Programme Coordinator, South Andaman District, MGNREGA, South Andaman District, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS today inaugurated the work C/o Katcha Road Shiv Mandir to Micale Suren Land at Hobdipur under Gram Panchayat Tushnabad in the presence of SDM (SA), AC(S)/ADPC, MGNREGA, Tehsildar Ferrargunj and Senior Programme Officer (BDO), MGNREGA, C.D Block Ferrargunj, ex-PRIs, MGNREGA officials and the MGNREGA beneficiaries (Villagers). The total estimated cost of the above said work is Rs.5,70,656/- with an estimated mandays of approx. 2010. It was a long pending demand of the villagers of the respective Gram Panchayat. The above said work will be benefit around 200 beneficiaries.

Port Blair, July 8: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 212,003 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2, 81, 603 (approx.). A total of 5695 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 56,287 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
