Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: On 07/10/2024, PS Kalighat received a complaint from Shri Shadev Uraon, a resident of Kalighat, regarding theft of significant quantity of areca nuts from his property. Responding swiftly, the Kalighat Police registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the BNS-2023 and promptly launched a thorough investigation.

Acting swiftly, a team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of PS Kalighat, and comprising ASI Mucheray Munda, PCs Irenious, and Hazrat Kumar was quickly formed. By leveraging both manual efforts and technical surveillance, the team identified the suspect, Roni Biswas, S/o Shri Nimai Biswas 24 yrs, R/o Nabagram, within hours. The suspect attempted to flee the district but was apprehended at Kadamtala, with the assistance of the PS Kadamtala police team, before escaping.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: An interview was held on 3rd and 4th October, 2024 in the Department of Social Welfare to fill up the vacancies of State Mission Coordinator, Gender Specialist, Research & Training Specialist, Account Assistant, Office Assistant with Computer Knowledge, Multi-Tasking Staff under the State Hub for Empowerment of Women.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: Upon receiving an intimation/letter that a protest/bandh has been called on October 8, 2024, the District Magistrate, South Andaman has issued an Order to confine Assemblies to Tiranga Park, if permitted.

The Order stated that information has been received from various sources that during the protest and bandh there is apprehension that certain assemblies and gatherings in the district will disrupt the normal functioning of daily life and have the potential to cause inconvenience to the public.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: Based on an intimation/letter received from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament regarding a bandh called on October 8, 2024, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman has issued an Order today to ensure peace, public order and smooth functioning of essential services in the South Andaman District.

In the Order issued today, the DM, South Andaman said that information has been received from various sources that during the protest and bandh there is apprehension that certain assemblies and gatherings in the district will disrupt the normal functioning of daily life and have the potential to cause inconvenience to the public.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: As part of the celebration of 70th Wildlife Week-2024 from Oct. 2 to 8, 2024 by the Wildlife Division, Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration, a Nature Trail has been created at Jolly Bouy Island within Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor measuring a distance of 1.7 km for promoting eco-tourism activities. The Nature Trail was inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (ANI)-cum- Chief Wildlife Warden in the presence of other senior officers and staff of the Department of Environment and Forests on Oct.5, 2024.
