Privatization will Never Benefit the Government but will add to the Burden of Islanders: Kuldeep
Port Blair, March 24: 3The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up yet another important issue in the Parliament concerning the Islanders and the employees of Electricity Department arising out of the Central Government decision to privatise Electricity Department of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Addressing the Hon'ble Speaker, the MP said that the decision of Central Government to privatise Electricity in Andaman & Nicobar Islands along with the other Union Territories taken with a view to curtail the expenses to public exchequer on production and supply of electricity as also tariff for consumers, is not a well thought and welcome move in the Islands' perspective. It needs to be withdrawn as privatisation is neither going to benefit the government nor the Islanders.

Employees Stage Mass Demonstration, To Commence ‘Work with Hunger’ from Tomorrow
Port Blair, March 24: The Employees of Social Welfare Department staged a Mass Demonstration in front of the Directorate of Social Welfare today against the non-payment of salary/honorarium to ICDS employees and Anganwadi Workers for the past 07 months. These employees and Anganwadi workers who had worked tirelessly during the whole Covid period to implement various welfare schemes of the government and reaching the beneficiaries at their door steps are running without salary/honorarium for the reasons best known to the Administration.

Port Blair, March 24: In a bid to help islanders amid the COVID 19 pandemic, Vistara Airlines in association with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi distributed ration kits to the needy family.
Vistara Airlines has been distributing ration kits and serving the people in need across the country since the COVID Pandemic.
In a small event organised today evening, the staff of Vistara Airlines, Port Blair with Mandeep Grewal, President, Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi in presence of Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and Shri Hari Kallikat, Sub Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman distributed the ration kits from PBGKR office at Gurudwara Line to 30 needy families residing in Port Blair with a Ration Kit.

Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary (RD), Andaman and Nicobar Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) with Sri Angalamman Trust, Tamil Nadu, Project Implementing Agency for implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, March 24: Safety of commuters especially females and other vulnerable persons is a prime concern area while travelling in public passenger transport vehicles like Cabs, Taxis, Public Buses etc. Hence, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India has proposed a system to enhance the safety of the women and the girl children by equipping with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) and Emergency Buttons for raising alerts in case of emergency in all the public passenger transport vehicles. Accordingly, the Ministry has amended the CMVR 1989 by inserting Rule 125H that confirms to AIS-140 Standard and the Commercial Vehicles (except 2 & 3 wheelers) are required to be fitted with VLT Device (GPS) and emergency button.
