Sri Vijaya Puram, March 9: The Khadi and Village Industries Board, in collaboration with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), conducted a one-month Skill Development Training on Poultry and Dairy Farming for beneficiaries from South and North & Middle Andaman districts. The training, which commenced on 20th January, 2025, concluded on 19th February, 2025. The curriculum included both theoretical and practical training components. Senior Veterinary Officers from AH&VS training centres at Dollygunj, Port Mout, and Hutbay provided expert guidance to the participants. As part of the training, beneficiaries were taken on field trips to various farms for gaining hands-on experience in poultry and dairy farming.

Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency visited Army War College, Indian Army, at Madhya Pradesh to address the Joint Capsule (JOCAP-25) of the Army, Navy and Air Force Higher Command Courses at Army War College today.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 9: A solemn function will be organized at the Chatham Memorial on 10th March 2025 at 0800 hours to commemorate the arrival of first batch of Freedom Fighters of 1857 in the Islands. Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, will lay wreath at the Memorial and others.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 7: A three days’ State Level Seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Island Youth and Women in Spices, Arecanut and Medicinal Plants Sector’ was successfully conducted during March 5 to 7, 2025 by ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Sri Vijaya Puram in collaboration with Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode, Kerala and ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Plantation Crops, Kasaragod, Kerala. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agri.), Andaman and Nicobar Administration in the presence Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI. During the inaugural programme, the Chief Guest appreciated ICAR-CIARI for taking initiative of conducting entrepreneurship oriented programmes to facilitate development of agri based businesses in the islands.
