Port Blair, Oct. 7: The Chairman, Executive Members of Tribal Council, Carnicobar and the management of Ellon Hinengo Ltd. deeply mourns the sudden demise of Late Yuda Victor, Headman of Tapoiming village at BJR Hospital Carnicobar at 8.AM on Tuesday. He was 68. Late Yuda was a renowned sportsperson and a dynamic tribal leader. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and five sons. They prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

District Administration South Andaman Initiates Campaign to Promote Rain Water Harvesting
Port Blair, Oct. 6: The District Administration under the campaign “Catch The Rain” with the tagline “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” has conducted a workshop on Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) in the presence of Shri Lakshay Singhal, AC (U/T) along with Pradhans, District Officials and Civil Society organisation members at Mithakhari. The objective of the workshop was to tope in key stake-holders to create cost effective RWHS suitable to the local climatic conditions and sub-sil strata before the onset of monsoon.

Member of Parliament Requests CS to Make Arrangements for Immediate Sailings
Port Blair, Oct. 6: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to make urgent arrangements of sailing of boats to Swaraj Dweep and Hut Bay and vice versa for transpiration of people including students stranded at Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep and Hut Bay. Due to non- availability of transportation facilities from Port Blair to respective places and vice versa, many people have been stranded.

Port Blair, Oct. 6: In order to curtail the threat of drugs from these Islands, the team of PS Aberdeen has proved their efficiency and booked one accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with the recovery of 1.2 Kgs of Ganja.
