Distribution of PDS items for the month of May & June to be given at one go

Port Blair, April 29: In the wake of upward surge in COVID cases, the UT Administration has decided to distribute PDS item to all PDS beneficiaries for two months in one go (May & June, 2021). In addition to this, as per the directions of the Government of India under PMGKAY, all NFSA beneficiaries i.e. PHH & AAY households shall also be distributed Rice @ 5 kg per person per month for two months (May & June, 2021) free of cost in one installment w.e.f 1st May, 2021.

Port Blair, April 29: In view of the unprecedented rice of Covid cases, it has been decided to set up a Rescue Cell on 24 x 7 basis operational from the Central Control Room of the Dy. Commissioner, South Andaman for providing a platform to redress the grievances pertaining to different departments of the A&N Administration. The composition of the cell shall be as under.

The following Nodal Officer of the main departments shall deploy one officer each to Rescue Cell in three shifts from 8 AM to 2 PM, 2 PM to 8 PM and from 8 PM to 8 AM well versed in the working of the concerned department. To register the grievances in the register, forward the same to the concerned officer of their department for redressal and list the action taken/ compliance in the register in respect of all the complaints received over telephone at 240127 and 238881 or toll free no. 1077 and on WhatsApp at 953188844. The list of the officials deputed shall be intimated to the office of the Secretary (perl).

Cell to Coordinate Medical Supplies, Food, Transportation & Evacuation of Stranded Labourers/ Others in any kind of Eventuality During the Pandemic

Port Blair, April 28: The competent authority, A&N Islands has been pleased to constitute a Rescue Cell headed by Secretary (IT) and having Secretary (Personnel) and Secretary (PWD) as the members. The Control Room of the Rescue Cell will be based at the District Office Control Room at South Andaman.

Port Blair, April 28: The Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while briefing the media persons in the conference hall of IP&T today said that massive surge in COVID cases and deaths taking place all over the country is a matter of great concern. Informing about the COVID situation in these Islands, the Secretary said today 9 flights with 568 passengers and 10 infants arrived in Port Blair. Out of this, 12 passengers were tested corona positive. The Secretary stated that there is daily addition of around 40 to 50 corona positive cases in these Islands and the numbers are not coming down which, he said, is a matter of grave concern.

Port Blair, April 28: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma based on grievances received from the public has brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration that X-Ray machine and Blood testing machine at CHC Rangat are not functioning since past many months and insulin for diabetic patients is also not available since last one month. Similarly, Technician for operation of X-Ray machine at CHC Diglipur is not available, due to which patients are facing hardship for getting treatment. The Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to look into these problems to make availability of the same at the earliest.
