Port Blair, Oct. 3: The A&N Islands cycling team has won 6 medals in the ongoing 36th National Games-2022 at Gujarat/New Delhi. In the cycling events, the Ace cyclist, Shri David Bekham has won 3 medals i.e 2 silver medals and one bronze medal while star cyclist Esow Alben has won 1 bronze medal. Another, upcoming cyclist, Ms. N. Nikita has won 1 bronze medal in 200mtrs. In the team sprint event, the cycling team comprising of Paul Collingwood, David Beckham and Srijan Sengupta showing their excellent performance have won 1 silver medal.

Port Blair, Oct. 3: On 1st Oct. 2022, Ms Vedita Reddy, IAS, Secretary (Education) along with Director (Education) and engineers of APWD visited GSS School Bambooflat. Ms V. K. Mariyam Bibi, ZPM, Bambooflat, Smti Dhana Rekha, ZPM Shorepoint, Shri Bablu, Pradhan Bambooflat- 1, Smti Rasheeda Pradhan Hopetown, Smti Naseema Bibi, Pradhan Bambooflat- 2, Shri Bala, Pradhan Shorepoint, Shri Y. Raj Kumar PSM B-2 and Shri B. Laxmi Narayan, PSM Hopetown also accompanied the officials. They apprised her about various issues faced in the daily functioning of schools.

Port Blair, Oct. 3: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Andaman & Nicobar State has organized a Seminar on “Workers’ Struggles in A & N Islands” today (3.10.2022) at Port Blair on the occasion of International Action Day being observed world over at the call of World Federation of Trade Unions. The day is observed internationally by the trade unions to remind the working class to strengthen and to escalate the struggles of workers on their demands.

Transport Department Cautions Vehicle Owners
Port Blair, Oct. 3: It is a prevalent practice amongst vehicle owners to ply their other State registered vehicles in A&N Islands without informing the Transport Department, A&N Islands which is violation of the provision of MV Act. In the absence of data on such vehicles, Transport Department finds it difficult to trace the details, especially in the event of an accident or other untoward incident.
