AATO Urges AirAsia to Reconsider Suspension
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 16: AirAsia, the first official regular international flight connecting the Andaman & Nicobar Islands with South East Asian countries has officially announced suspension of its flights connecting Port Blair and Kuala Lumpur from 12th April 2025. The announcement comes within four months from the date of commencement of its flights in the route.

Kamorta, March 16: A twin programme on the Integrated Farming System for Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers and Agro-Advisory Services for Livelihood Improvement of Farmers under the STC was conducted by the AICRP on the Integrated Farming System in collaboration with Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva. As part of the programme, small agricultural implements were distributed by ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute in coordination with the Zonal Agricultural Office, Nancowrie, across four villages; Kakana, Pilpillow, Chotta Enaka, and Hitui on 12th and 13th March 2025.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 16: The recent reports of Jio and Airtel's tie-up with Elon Musk's Starlink to offer high-speed satellite-based internet services in the country raises serious questions regarding spectrum allocation and national security concerns. The Supreme Court had held in the 2G case that spectrum is a scarce resource and can be allocated to private players only through open, transparent auction. Any private deal for allocating spectrum would be a violation of the law of the land. Jio, Airtel and Starlink coming together to form a cartel to dominate satellite spectrum use will be at the cost of millions of telecom subscribers in India.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 16: The Primary Chess Utsav (PCU), a Block Level Chess Tournament organized by the Sports Section, Directorate of Education, in collaboration with DEO South Andaman, was successfully conducted today at GSSS Mohanpura. The event provided a grand platform for young chess enthusiasts from various Government Primary Schools to showcase their talent.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 16: Road accidents and resultant fatalities as well as injuries are a matter of serious concern for the Government of India as well as Andaman & Nicobar Administration. One of the methods in reducing the number of road accidents is creation of effective road safety awareness among the citizen. In this direction, Transport Department organized a day long Road safety awareness camp along with service delivery at the door steps of citizen in respect of the services provided by Transport Department was held at Ograbraj on Mar. 13. The camp was organized with active participations by the Mithakhari and Tushnabad Panchayats.
