Port Blair, July 16: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency chaired the third Review Meeting at Raj Niwas regarding proposed Guinness World Record of SCUBA Diving in A&N Islands today. The objective of this exercise is to put Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the global diving destination list and promote tourism. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, DGP, A&N Islands, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS and other senior officers from A&N Administration and A&N Command.

Port Blair, July 16: On 27th April 2024, a significant breakthrough was achieved by the Crime & Economic Offence Police Station with the registration of FIR No. 62/2024 under sections 22 (b), 22 (c), 27 (A), and 29 of the NDPS Act 1985. The case marks a pivotal moment in the fight against narcotics trafficking in the region.

During the initial stages of investigation, a total of 08 accused persons were arrested out of which 04 were arrested from Hut Bay, Little Andaman. This operation led to the seizure of 508.36 grams of Methamphetamine, a dangerous psychotropic substance known for its severe health and societal impacts.

Port Blair, July 16: It has been observed that certain anti-social and rogue elements in the name of vigilantism are entering into the premises of G.B. Pant Hospital Port Blair frequently, and creating ruckus with the malafide intent to paralyze and disrupt the Essential Health Care Services. It has also been observed that these elements are trying to break the social harmony and working atmosphere of the only tertiary care hospital in this UT by threatening Senior Doctors, Nurses & Paramedics, which may jeopardize the Essential Health Care of the critically ill patients on one hand and adversely impact the working environment on the other.

Port Blair, July 16: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has been granted a patent for an invention entitled ‘A NEW AND SAFE METHOD OF BLOODCOLLECTION FROM FARM PIGS’ (Patent No. 544874, Date of grant: 12/07/2024). The present invention describes an innovative technique of blood collection in which blood is collected from a different anatomical site of farm pigs which has not been described earlier in patented and non-patented literature.
