Port Blair, July 26: Shri. N.K. Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson , Port Blair Municipal Council inspected the Garacharma area wherein due to damage of a major Pipeline at that area the water distribution system of some areas of Ward No-24, 19, 18 & 17 was badly disturbed.

Port Blair, July 26: Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year in honour of the Kargil War Heroes for their courage, valour and sacrifice, after the successful completion of Operation Vijay. The Kargil War was fought for more than sixty days on the icy heights and High Altitude Area of Western Ladakh.

Time For the Department to Realize the Fact That Contact of Jarawa and Settlers is Not Restricted to ATR
Port Blair, July 25: In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the tribal area, the Secretary (Tribal Welfare), A&N Administration has restricted the number of convoys on the Andaman Trunk Road passing through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve to one only with effect from 27th July 2020.

District Magistrate South Andaman Issues New Directives to Contain Spread of COVID-19
Port Blair, July 25: The active COVID-19 cases in the Andaman Islands is all time high with a total of 114 cases as on 25th July 2020. The numbers are expected to increase rapidly if proper measures are not taken by the islanders and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

Campbell Bay, July 24: The tribals of the Nicobar District are one among the worst hit among the islanders during the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004. The Tsunami had not only caused the lives of hundreds of tribals but had also rendered them hand to mouth, with their coconut farms getting destroyed. Sixteen long years have passed since then and the tribals are still struggling to get their deserved support from the government. To add to the situation, the Corona pandemic too has brought a scare among the community as they complain that there is no proper screening of passengers arriving in the Nicobar group of islands.
