Port Blair, June 2: Bars and wine shops have been closed for some time. This is the time that bootleggers and makers of Handia and illicit liquor may try to take advantage of the situation. Keeping that in mind, the district police of North and Middle Andaman district has increased the vigil over habitual bootleggers and is continuously conducting raids and jungle searches.

Port Blair, June 2: In the critical situations, where we are facing the Second Wave of the COVID-19 and lockdown in Andaman & Nicobar islands; with the grace of Her Holiness Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj, the volunteers from Sant Nirankari Mandal, Branch Chouldari, South Andaman distributed Dry Ration Relief Packets at Chouldari village and parts of Bambooflat area (Nimbu Bagicha, Tsunami Shelter Badmas Pahar, Carikabad, Bachra Pahar, Tapu Basti Stewart Gunj). The volunteers covered Widows, Physically Challenged persons and daily wage workers who struggle for food due to lockdown. The distribution was conducted from 28.05.2021 to 31.05.2021 with the slogan of “Manav Ko Manav Ho Pyara, Ek Duje Ka Bane Sahara”.

Port Blair, June 2: Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, AVSM, called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), Andaman & Nicobar Islands after taking over as the 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) on 01 Jun 21. The CINCAN discussed matters related to national importance, the security situation and measures being followed by ANC to fight the COVID pandemic. CINCAN assured the LG of all support of ANC to the ANI administration and local populace for security readiness and COVID-19.

Port Blair, June 2: On taking over as Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Lt Gen Gen Ajai Singh, AVSM laid a wreath and paid homage to the martyrs of the Defence Services at a solemn ceremony held in Birchgunj Military Station, Port Blair. Limited number of officers, JCOs and Other Ranks of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) were in attendance for the ceremony in keeping with COVID prevention protocols.

Port Blair, June 2: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands and so far, a total of 7,893 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.  As per the data available, altogether, 335 persons in the age group of 18 to 44 years were vaccinated in South Andaman District.

Similarly, a total of 437 beneficiaries both in the age group of 18-44 years and 45-59 years of age were vaccinated today. In South Andaman 427 beneficiaries were inoculated while in Nicobar District, 10 persons were vaccinated. With this, a total of 1,26,722 doses of vaccines have been administered so far in A&N Islands.
