Port Blair, Jan 22: The coronavirus global pandemic affected these islands like rest of the country and the world. Now, as a great relief, protective vaccine is available in the country to protect against the novel coronavirus in the form of life saving guard. It is informed to all general public and professionals that COVISHIELD Vaccine has been provided to A&N Islands and the same is being administered to Health Care Workers in the last five days, with no adverse reactions among the recipients.

Port Blair, Jan 22: Andaman and Nicobar Command has accomplished yet another milestone by conducting the first ever Tri-Services Para Jumping and Freefall skydiving training course at Air Force Station Car Nicobar. The course was conducted by the Indian Air Force which trains personnel of Indian Armed Forces.

Port Blair, Jan 22: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested  the Chief General Manager, A&N Telecom Circle, Port Blair to install the required instruments at BSNL tower erected at Rajath Garh, Baratang. The tower was erected more than a year ago for providing mobile connectivity to uncovered villages around the Rajath Garh i.e. Khatta Khari, Jarawa Creek, Baludera, Beach Dera etc in Baratang. Due to delay the villagers are still deprived from getting connectivity for various services including online classes.

Port Blair, Jan 22: The Revenue Department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Government land in South Andaman District during the month of December and January and restored an area of 3200 Sq. Mtrs approximately of Government land into Government Khata. As a part of Zero Tolerance towards encroachment, these eviction drives were conducted in various villages of Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsil.

Port Blair, Jan 22: A large scale Joint Military exercise “EXERCISE KAVACH” involving assets of Army, Navy, Air Force and Cost Guard is being conducted in the coming week under the aegis of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), the only Joint Forces Command of the country. The exercise would involve participation and deployment of elements of Army’s Amphibious Brigade along with supporting forces including Special Forces of Navy, Armour/Mechanised components, Naval Ships comprising Destroyers, ASW Corvettes and Landing Ships with ship-borne helicopters of Eastern Naval Command and ANC, Jaguar Maritime Strike and Transport aircrafts from Indian Air Force and assets of Coast Guard.
